Enforcement of the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) is more aggressive today than ever before. In 2009, the government announced an intention to shift its enforcement focus from employees working without authorization to the employers that hire them. I-9 compliance is of paramount importance, as enforcement actions have increased to historic levels and the government continues to pursue significant fines and criminal liability whenever possible.

The rules and regulations governing I-9 compliance and document inspection are complicated and can be overwhelming for employers to navigate on their own. Missteps can be costly in an audit and even careless errors, such as failing to sign or date a form can lead to substantial monetary penalties.

We invite you to join us for this complimentary workshop where we’ll provide a hands-on look at the tools you need to comply with IRCA. This workshop will cover best practices for I-9 compliance including:

  • In-depth analysis of the I-9 form and tips for completing and correcting forms
  • Review of acceptable documentation and the standards for examining employee documents
  • Policies for managing the I-9 process so as to minimize potential liability in the event of a government audit
  • E-Verify
