Sumeet Sharma focuses his practice on affordable housing tax credit syndication, community development and real estate development and finance. He advises investors, syndicators, developers, lenders and non-profit organizations on real estate, tax, finance and regulatory issues related to the acquisition, sales, development, operation and management of projects which generate affordable housing and historic rehabilitation, new markets and renewable energy tax credits.
Sumeet has structured and closed on various complex mixed-financed affordable housing and community development projects throughout the country. He has also previously assisted clients with all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including the sale, acquisition, development, financing, leasing and zoning of commercial, retail, and residential properties. Additionally, he has represented institutions and individuals in various secured lending, corporate, commercial real estate, securities, bankruptcy, foreclosure and loan modification/workout matters.
Sumeet is an active speaker at tax credit industry conferences and has published articles on real estate and corporate issues. He is also an active leader in local community and civic organizations, serves as a coach of a high school debate team and mentors college students under a honors semester in DC program.
