Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of longtime partner and former state legislator James Vallee as managing partner of the firm’s Boston office.
In this role, Jim will draw on a long personal history of building and leading diverse teams through his civic and military leadership. Prior to joining Nixon Peabody in 2012, Jim was a Massachusetts legislator for nearly 20 years. During his time at the State House, Jim served as majority leader, a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, and chairman of the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs.
“Jim is an energetic leader who is well known in the Boston business community and whose experience speaks for itself,” said Stephen Zubiago, Nixon Peabody CEO and managing partner. “His decades of experience advising clients on a range of complex legal and political issues, coupled with his deep commitment to public service, position Jim well for leading the firm to continued growth in the Greater Boston area and beyond.”
Jim is currently a one-star general with the Massachusetts Army National Guard, having served in the military for more than 25 years. In the early days of the pandemic, he was very active in helping to open field hospitals across Massachusetts.
In addition to leading the Boston office, Jim leads Nixon Peabody’s Government Relations & Public Policy practice. He maintains his active practice, which focuses on providing strategic counsel to large and mid-size publicly and privately held companies, nonprofit entities, and associations on complex government relations, legal, policy, regulatory, and compliance matters that affect their industries and companies.
“Our Boston office is home to such a dynamic group of colleagues who understand our region’s distinctive environment and the myriad challenges our clients face,” said Jim. “I’m honored to take on this role, as Nixon Peabody Boston continues helping clients create positive impact for their businesses and communities.”
Jim succeeds former Boston office managing partner Christopher Froeb, who was recently selected as leader of the firm’s nationally recognized Affordable Housing & Real Estate practice.
