Counsel
Steven Feenstra is admitted to practice only in Michigan, and is supervised by a member of the firm who is a member of the DC Bar.
In my practice, I represent a large syndicator of housing tax credits. A significant amount of affordable housing in the United States is built using tax credits. I help negotiate the business arrangement between the syndicator/investors that are providing equity in connection with tax credits and developers of affordable housing. I also review proposed projects to confirm they comply with tax code requirements, and I review essential development issues on behalf of the syndicator and its investors, including real property issues and debt financing.
In addition to using housing tax credits, many syndicators are exploring strategies to preserve existing affordable housing and to syndicate other forms of tax credits. These innovative approaches will help build and maintain affordable housing throughout the United States.
