Introduction
Bob O’Regan is a seasoned litigator who represents clients in commercial, employment, and fiduciary duty matters. He also handles complex disputes involving high-net-worth individuals where the valuation and division of business or trust interests are a primary issue.
My focus
My experience in civil and commercial litigation includes valuation of interests in closely held businesses, directors’ and officers’ liability, fidelity bond claims, real estate title issues, and claims of fraud and undue influence. I have successfully represented businesses and individuals before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. I also have extensive experience representing clients before professional and occupational licensing boards.
Over the course of my career, I have won precedent-setting cases at the trial and appellate levels. These have included a recent complex divorce case in which I successfully established the value of diverse business interests at $227 million over the other side’s claim of $90 million when the parties had agreed to split the marital estate equally. On behalf of a Harvard Medical School professor, I won dismissal and recovery of all of his legal fees when he was sued for product defamation after stating—“You can die from taking this product”—in a broadcast interview about the Metabolife herbal diet pill that was being sold at shopping mall kiosks across the United States.
Looking ahead
Now, more than ever, clients are facing issues in connection with conflicts of interest by professionals and fiduciaries, business valuations in times of economic uncertainty, and the duty of care by fiduciaries in monitoring investment performance and supervising managers in a shaky economy.
