Los Angeles, CA. Nixon Peabody client Sterling Ruby, one of the most celebrated contemporary artists of his generation, has launched fashion line S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA., which features ready-to-wear clothing and accessories.
Nixon Peabody partners Ellie Altshuler and Thaddeus Stauber assisted with e-commerce and intellectual property aspects of the fashion collection.
Throughout the 20 years of his practice, Ruby’s art has incorporated elements from his upbringing in rural Pennsylvania, where craft traditions such as sewing and quilting became formative aspects of his education. For the past 10 years, he has ritualistically created clothing alongside his artwork, developing utilitarian garments from the same handworked fabric featured in his pieces. S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. debuted as special guest of Pitti Immagine Uomo 96, the renowned menswear show in Florence, Italy, on June 13.
