Long Island, NY. Nixon Peabody’s Long Island office was recognized with Newsday’s “Top Workplaces 2019” award. This sought-after industry accolade is an employee-driven survey benchmarking an organization’s workplace culture, such as engagement, mission alignment, and execution, among others.
“I work with some of the most talented and collaborative people, and it’s an honor to be named one of Long Island’s ‘Top Workplaces’ in 2019,” said Allan Cohen, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Long Island office. “My colleagues and I have always let it be known to all that would listen that there is no better place to work—now it’s not a secret to anybody.”
Nixon Peabody’s Long Island office has strong practices in Labor and Employment, Complex Commercial Litigation, and Corporate, servicing the region’s top businesses, health care and research institutions, and innovators. Serving in nationwide roles, the firm’s practice group leaders in Affordable Housing & Real Estate and Health Care are also based in Long Island.
“One of the things I like about our office and our firm is the emphasis we put on pro bono legal work, which has given me an opportunity to give back to my community and the city I grew up in,” said associate Michael Webb, who was named Pro Bono Partnership’s “Volunteer of the Year” for his work with homeless veterans and their families on behalf of nonprofit New Ground, Inc.
Newsday’s “Top Workplaces 2019” award is based on employee feedback gathered through a third-party and anonymous survey administered by Energage, LLC, a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools.
“The ‘Top Workplaces’ award is about much more than recognition and celebration,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “Our research also shows that these organizations achieve higher referral rates, lower employee turnover, and double the employee engagement levels. It just goes to show that being intentional about culture delivers bottom-line results.”
