Rochester, NY. Nixon Peabody LLP is proud to announce that Jennifer Jovcevski, an associate in the firm’s Corporate practice, has been selected by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and its Women’s Council as a finalist for the 2023 ATHENA International Young Professional Award®.
The ATHENA International Young Professional Award® recognizes emerging women leaders between the ages of 30 and 45 who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession. Members of this elite group actively assist other women in attaining professional excellence, and serve as role models both personally and professionally.
Jennifer and the other finalists will be honored at the 37th Annual ATHENA Awards in-person event on February 2, 2023.
As a member of Nixon Peabody’s Corporate practice, Jennifer represents businesses in commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, and advises clients on general corporate matters, contract negotiations, finance, and corporate governance. As a former teacher with Teach for America, she also serves as outside counsel to several charter schools in matters relating to education law, governance, and operational matters.
Jennifer, who was recently named to the Rochester Business Journal’s “2022 Forty Under 40,” is active in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives both inside and outside of the firm. She created and hosts the Nixon Peabody podcast She Talks Law, a celebration of women business owners and entrepreneurs across various industries. In each episode, Jennifer invites another Nixon Peabody attorney and a female business owner, entrepreneur, or industry leader to discuss legal issues impacting women in business and life. She also serves as co-chair of the firm’s regional Women’s Resource Group.
Outside of the firm, Jennifer serves as membership chair on the board of directors for the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys and sits on the board of trustees for the Young Women’s College Prep Charter School in Rochester. She also serves as an active councilmember on the Business Council of the Monroe County Bar Association and the Greater Rochester Chamber’s Women’s Council, amongst others.
