Los Angeles, CA. Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce that Yun Kim, longtime general counsel of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency’s (KOTRA’s) Los Angeles office, has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property practice.
Based in Nixon Peabody’s Los Angeles office, Yun brings over a decade of experience in intellectual property (IP) management, litigation, and counseling, as well as a deep understanding of the Korean business landscape and market conditions across diverse industries that include technology, fashion and beauty, entertainment, and food and beverage. She focuses her practice on counseling clients in Korea and the US on IP matters and facilitating communication and collaboration between firms and companies during IP litigation and disputes.

In addition to her general counsel role with KOTRA, Yun also recently served as director of the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency (KOIPA) North America, where she oversaw the launch of the premier IP center and helped establish it as a benchmark for IP protection and acquisition in North America. While serving as general counsel at the KOTRA LA IP Desk, Yun partnered with Korean and US law firms for IP matters, advising on IP-related lawsuits, contracts, and customs issues for Korean businesses.

Yun earned her LLM from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law, and her LLB from Konkuk University. Yun was recognized by KOTRA with its President’s Commendation Award and the Korean Customs Commissioner with a Commendation Award.
