San Francisco, CA. Nixon Peabody LLP is continuing to expand its Intellectual Property practice in California with the addition of IP and technology litigator Corey Leggett, who joins the firm as counsel.
Based in the firm’s San Francisco office, Corey helps clients navigate high-stakes technology disputes. As an intellectual property litigator with jury trial experience, he has tried a wide range of IP cases, including patent infringement and invalidity, trade secret misappropriation, trademark and trade dress infringement, and contractual disputes over IP.
Nixon Peabody has added several attorneys to its Intellectual Property practice in recent months, working across the firm’s US offices. In addition to Corey, the firm recently welcomed partners Sasha Rao, Brandon Stroy, Ashe Puri, and Tim Maloney; senior counsel Karl Fink; counsel Elizabeth Chiaviello, Brian Kennedy, and Michael Gray; and a number of associates, including Taylor Pfeifer, Nicole Sims, Nicholas Choi, Patrick Doyle, Ion Moraru, Maggie Horstman, and Jackie Relatores.
“As we continue to expand our IP offerings and add meaningful depth to our dynamic team, we are thrilled to welcome Corey to the firm,” said partner Seth Levy, leader of Nixon Peabody’s Intellectual Property practice. “His deep experience in IP litigation, particularly in helping clients navigate high-stakes technology matters, will be a valuable asset for our clients.”
Corey’s litigation experience has spanned a range of industry sectors, including technology, commodities, industrials, automotive, biotechnology, and healthcare. He has handled every aspect of technology disputes, from pre-litigation planning and strategy through jury trial and post-trial, including pleadings, fact and expert discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, and evidentiary motions. Corey has handled cases filed in district courts throughout the country, as well as at the International Trade Commission and Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the US Patent Office.
“Corey’s significant experience across a variety of industry sectors makes him a well-suited addition to our office and IP team,” said Robert Weikert, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s San Francisco office. “His tech-focused background dovetails nicely with the legal needs of businesses in our region, many of whom are existing clients.”
Corey earned his JD, magna cum laude, from Capital University Law School and his BS, cum laude, from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
