Proclamation 10052 suspending the issuance of H-1B, H-2B, J, and L visas with limited exceptions has been extended to March 31, 2021.
On April 22, 2020, President Trump issued proclamation 10014 barring certain foreign nationals entering the United States from abroad for the first time as U.S. permanent residents. On June 22, 2020, President Trump issued proclamation 10052 expanding this suspension to certain individuals seeking to enter the U.S. in H-1B, H-2B, J, and L visa status. This proclamation pertains to individuals who do not currently have a valid nonimmigrant visa or other travel document as of the effective date of the proclamation and are outside the U.S. as of the effective date of the proclamation, effectively halting the issuance of new visas in these categories.
