/My focus

I started my practice on the entertainment industry almost 23 years ago. At present, I focus my practice more on the film, music and TV industry.

/Representative experience

Some of the film companies that I have represented include:

• Award-winning actor, director, and writer Stephen Chow and Bingo Group Holdings Limited, a listco that produced the film Journey To The West: Conquering The Demons, with box office in PRC grossing over US$215 million and many other award-winning films.
• Award-winning director Wong Kar-Wai and Jet Tone Films, which produced the film The Grandmaster, with box office grossing over US$64 million and many other award-winning films.
• Award-winning actor, director, producer, and screenwriter Raymond Wong Pak Ming and Pegasus Entertainment Holdings Limited, a listco that produced the film Ip Man, with box office grossing over US$21 million, among many other award-winning films

Some of the music-related clients I have represented include:

• BMG Music (later became Sony BMG and ultimately became part of Sony Music)
• Universal Music
• EMI Music
• Soliton Music (subsequently acquired by HMV Music)

Television clients I have represented include:

• Beijing TV in Hong Kong at Now TV and Cable TV
• HTV Entertainment

/Looking ahead

The media and entertainment business, especially the film industry in PRC, is expanding at a tremendous speed and scale. Foreign companies are looking for opportunities to cooperate with PRC companies, while PRC companies are looking for acquisitions in foreign companies. The synergy is exploding, and I believe this represents more opportunities for lawyers specialized in this area.
