At Nixon Peabody, we use our legal platform to create a positive impact in our communities. We’re proud to shine a light on organizations like the Corita Art Center and their crucial work supporting and strengthening our community.
Corita Kent was an artist, educator, and advocate for social justice. She taught at Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles, where her innovative approach and impactful artwork highlighted issues like poverty, racism, and war. Known as the “Pop-Art Nun,” her messages of peace and social justice continue to resonate today. The Corita Art Center carries on her legacy, inspiring new generations and supporting the community.
Recently, and in response to the devastating LA County fires, the center launched several programs to help those displaced by the disaster. Many of us have been affected by these fires or know someone who has. It’s heartening to see how the center embraced its founder's spirit of compassion to support artists and the broader LA community during this difficult time.
To delve deeper into their efforts, I’m proud Nixon Peabody is hosting a conversation about the Corita Art Center, and the positive impact they are creating in the Los Angeles community.
