Introduction
Kris Antonik is an affordable housing specialist in Nixon Peabody’s Affordable Housing and Real Estate group. Kris has in-depth knowledge of affordable housing programs, including the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) and Section 8 programs.
My focus
In my role as an affordable housing specialist, I support Nixon Peabody’s Affordable Housing practice in coordinating client interactions with city, state, and federal agencies; drafting regulatory submissions; and assisting the group with due diligence as well as other aspects of affordable housing transactions. I also work with clients and governmental agencies to obtain regulatory approvals for affordable housing transactions. I stay up to date on current guidance from HUD, and numerous other New York City and New York State agencies to ensure compliance standards are being met.
Looking ahead
I see an urgency in preserving and expanding affordable housing in both the nation’s most notoriously neglected areas as well as regions with increasingly scarce affordability. I look forward to keeping up with the inevitable industry changes, which should improve upon and expand the assistance already in place. If COVID has taught us anything, it is that we are prepared to get innovative during times of crisis, and the housing crisis should be no exception.
