Nic Mayne is counsel in Nixon Peabody’s Corporate practice group. A member of the firm’s Entertainment & Media and Sports & Stadiums teams, Nic represents some of the most prominent global creators, as well as talent-backed consumer product ventures, investors, teams and venues, brand partners, agents and managers, NIL rights holders, and other sports and entertainment industry stakeholders.
Applying my unique experience working with entertainment, sports, and influence-focused businesses, I am well-versed in structuring a wide variety of deals, including talent NIL licenses and other intellectual property, venture, and private equity investor agreements; brand, venue-related sponsorship, signage, and vendor agreements; consulting and service agreements; consumer product business agreements, and M&A transactions. I have worked as lead counsel on multimillion-dollar financing rounds for venture capital and private equity-backed companies, advised established clients throughout the M&A process in deals ranging from the low millions to over one billion dollars, and serve as a point person for entertainment, sports and apparel businesses, celebrities and their product brands, NIL collectives and rights holders, and other clients on an extensive assortment of business and corporate law needs.
YouTube and social media platforms will continue to command a growing majority share of consumer attention. Athletes, artists, and brands that understand and regularly interact with these platforms will be positioned for growth, and a new era of college athletics will bring even more influencer stakeholders into this space.
