Introduction
Susan Roney is a member of NP Trial. Her practice is focused on the representation of railroads and other businesses, including the news industry and healthcare providers and payors, in commercial, labor and employment and personal injury litigation.
My focus
I focus my practice on the representation of railroads and other self insured businesses in commercial disputes, personal injury litigation, government and administrative investigations and hearings and labor and employment litigation. Having represented railroads for over 30 years, I have particular experience in the railroad industry and have won numerous verdicts and dispositive motions for my clients.
My labor and employment practice includes the defense of clients in connection with claims of race, gender and disability discrimination and harassment. My practice also includes the defense of class action litigation in both the healthcare industry and consumer affairs. This includes the defense of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) claims commenced against one of Buffalo’s leading hospital networks.
In addition to my work with clients, I serve on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. It’s here working alongside colleagues where I gain a broader insight into industry challenges and how we can best affect change.
Looking ahead
Industries are more proactive in seeking to avoid recurring issues that lead to litigation. Working closely with clients as partners contributes to our ability to render proactive advice to minimize costly lawsuits.
