R. Lindsay Wilson II
Counsel
Introduction
My focus
I am a “business-minded” lawyer with more than 25 years of experience representing commercial real estate owners, purchasers, sellers, landlords, tenants, lenders, investors, and developers across all asset classes, including retail, office, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family, and self storage properties.
In addition to my more than two decades of experience at national and regional law firms, I have served as general counsel at a regional real estate development company and Massachusetts real estate counsel for a national real estate company. My direct, business-side experience within the industry gives me a unique understanding of my clients’ goals and objectives and allows me to provide strategic advice from both a legal and business perspective and better assist them in achieving their ultimate goals, namely, getting deals done while managing their downside risk.
Throughout my career, my practice has included serving as commercial leasing counsel representing both landlords and tenants in connection with the drafting, reviewing, and negotiating of retail, office, industrial, and biotech subleases and ground leases throughout the United States. I also have extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contract documents and routinely handle all legal aspects of commercial transactions from the letter-of-intent stage through deal execution or closing.
I also represent both private and institutional lenders and borrowers on debt and equity financings of both healthy and distressed real estate assets and serve as counsel to high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors with respect to private equity fund formation, investment, and execution of fund objectives.
Looking ahead
COVID-19 greatly affected how and where we work in the US, resulting in the “remote workplace” being here to stay. As a result, consolidation and repositioning of office assets will be an industry focal point for some time to come.
