Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP is proud to announce that Steven J. Hanton, a partner in the firm’s Global Finance practice, has been named one of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s “Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40.”
Founded over 30 years ago at the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association promotes justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBTQ+ community. Each year, the association recognizes LGBTQ+ legal professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and have demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBTQ+ equality.
Based in Nixon Peabody's Boston office, Steve is a member of the firm’s Corporate Trust and Banking & Finance practice groups. He is an active member of the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association and serves on the board of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association. In 2016, he was named one of the National Black Lawyers’ “Top 40 Lawyers Under 40.” Steve is also the cofounder of Men of Melanin Magic, a Boston-based organization seeking to foster joy among queer and trans people of color and create welcoming spaces for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
In his law practice, Steve leverages more than a decade of sophisticated corporate trust experience to advise trustees, agents, and other fiduciaries in asset-backed securitizations, collateralized loan obligations, corporate and public finance transactions, and other alternative structures. Steve also counsels lenders, emerging companies, and other institutions in structuring and negotiating transactions in both debt and equity financings.
Steve will receive his “Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40” award at the 2023 Lavender Law® Conference & Career Fair in July.
