Based in the firm’s San Francisco office, Matt oversees Nixon Peabody’s award-winning pro bono program, which leverages the skills and experience of attorneys and professional colleagues to make a positive impact for the firm’s clients and communities.

Nixon Peabody’s pro bono program focuses on serving the most vulnerable and marginalized communities in our society. Attorneys throughout the firm participate in a variety of projects that move the needle forward on equality and justice for all. Matt’s own work includes guiding refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine through immigration asylum and humanitarian parole; working with Human Rights Watch to help the organization uncover human rights abuses by representing them in Freedom of Information Act requests and related litigation; and working with the Bay Area Host Committee to bring major sporting events to the San Francisco Bay Area, including developing community empowerment and legacy initiatives associated with three major global sporting events in the Bay: the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, Super Bowl LX, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In addition to leading the firm’s pro bono program, Matt is a member of the Construction & Real Estate Litigation practice. He counsels owners and general contractors and represents them in federal and state court construction litigation and in arbitration. Matt also has significant experience in antitrust, bankruptcy, and appellate law.
