Rochester, NY. Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce that the Rochester Business Journal and sister publication The Daily Record have selected Jennifer A. Jovcevski and Sarah L. Tufano as 2024 “Attorneys of the Year” honorees.
The publications recognized Jennifer, an associate in Nixon Peabody’s M&A and Corporate Transactions and Nonprofit Organizations practices, for “Pro Bono Excellence.” Sarah, an associate in the firm’s Complex Disputes practice, was recognized in the “Up & Coming Lawyers” category.
Jennifer represents businesses in commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, and advises clients on general corporate matters and corporate governance. She also advises nonprofit organizations in matters relating to legal requirements and best practices regarding governance and operational matters. She has a particular focus on charter school and non-public school compliance, as she serves as outside counsel to charter schools and non-public schools in matters relating to legal requirements and best practices in connection with governance and operational matters.
Jennifer is President-elect of the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys. She is also the founder and host of Nixon Peabody’s She Talks Law podcast.
Sarah represents clients in complex commercial and business disputes across a variety of industries, including transportation, healthcare, real estate, and banking and financial services. She also represents and counsels clients involved in government investigations, as well as governmental entities and municipalities in civil litigation. Sarah’s background includes researching and drafting dispositive motions for litigations in federal and state court; coordinating discovery review and responding to discovery requests; preparing and conducting witness interviews; and advocating in court through oral arguments, hearings, and trials.
In addition to her work at the firm, Sarah is actively involved in the Rochester community, serving as a guest lecturer at St. John Fisher University School of Business for an MBA course focused on commercial law topics. She also serves as the membership chair on the board of the Monroe County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section, on the Board of Trustees of Rochester charter school Young Women’s College Prep, and on the board of LawNY, a legal services organization in Upstate New York.
Rochester Business Journal and The Daily Record will honor their “Attorneys of the Year” recipients at an awards celebration on November 4 at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.
