Boston, MA. ChIPs Network, a global community of more than 7,000 women in tech, IP law, and policy, has named Nixon Peabody’s Intellectual Property practice to its 2024 Honor Roll for a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace.
Nixon Peabody is one of only six firms recognized for “Excellence in Gender Inclusion,” which highlights firms that have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring talent practices at the firmwide and practice group levels are inclusive of all genders. This recognition is a testament to Nixon Peabody’s inclusive culture—within the Intellectual Property practice and firmwide.
“In our practice, we strive to foster innovation and protect the groundbreaking work of our clients,” said Nixon Peabody partner Seth Levy, leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice. “Clients in the IP space come from a wide range of backgrounds and it’s critical that our teams reflect that diversity and encourage inclusivity.”
The ChIPs Honor Roll is presented biannually based on the Inclusion Blueprint, a joint initiative between ChIPs and Diversity Lab, a legal industry incubator that aims to increase DEI in the legal profession. The Inclusion Blueprint measures the actions firms are taking to create fair and inclusive workplaces. Firms are scored on demographics tracking, diversity representation, ongoing inclusion practices, and ongoing inclusion practices in practice groups.
“Recruiting, developing, and retaining talent from diverse backgrounds is fundamental to who we are as a firm and leads directly to delivering exceptional service to our clients,” said Nixon Peabody Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Senior Director Ramla Farzad. “We are proud of our long history as a leader in helping to diversify the legal profession and are honored to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to continuous growth in these areas.”
Nixon Peabody’s hybrid Intellectual Property practice guides clients through the full IP lifecycle—from mining an organization’s research and development activities to capture and protect intellectual property to supporting the commercialization and branding of those assets, enforcing intellectual property rights, and defending against competitors.
