Chicago, IL & Washington, DC. Nixon Peabody LLP has further expanded its Intellectual Property practice with the addition of Randal Alexander, who joins as counsel in the firm’s Chicago office, and Matthew Zuziak, who joins as counsel in the firm’s Washington, DC office.
Randy is a seasoned patent litigator with comprehensive litigation experience representing clients across a broad range of technologies in federal district courts, the US International Trade Commission, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Matt advises clients on a range of intellectual property matters, including patent, trade secret, and trademark disputes in federal district courts, the US International Trade Commission, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

In addition to Randy and Matt, Nixon Peabody recently welcomed IP litigation counsel Elizabeth Chiaviello in Washington, DC and Corey Leggett in San Francisco, and associates Alvaro Cure Dominguez and Dan Gjorgiev in Chicago and Benjamin Holt in Washington, DC.
Randy’s litigation experience encompasses a wide variety of technologies, including life sciences, medical devices, software, telecommunications, oilfield equipment, and automotive equipment. He is experienced in all phases of litigation and has both bench and jury trial experience. In addition to litigating complex IP disputes, Randy is also adept in managing IP portfolios and negotiating licensing deals.
Matt has first-chair experience in all stages of intellectual property litigation, ranging from handling all facets of discovery and dispositive motions, to arguing motions and examining trial witnesses. He has litigated patents on a wide variety of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, DNA sequencing and cancer detection, automotive components, telecommunications, and industrial food processing. He also has experience litigating cases involving claims of false advertising, trademark infringement, counterfeiting, and breach of contract.

Randy earned his JD from UIC John Marshall Law School and his BS from Midwestern State University. He has been recognized in both the Illinois Leading Lawyers and Super Lawyers publications.
Matt earned his JD from DePaul University College of Law and his BS, cum laude, from DePaul University College of Science and Health.
