Washington, DC. International law firm Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce the firm has further expanded its Intellectual Property practice with the addition of IP litigator Elizabeth Chiaviello, who joins as counsel.
Elizabeth focuses her practice on a wide range of intellectual property and complex litigation matters, particularly involving patent, trademark, and trade secret disputes. Building on her multiple clerkships in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, she represents clients in US federal district courts and the International Trade Commission. Elizabeth’s litigation experience covers many stages, including hearings, discovery, dispositive motion practice, claim construction, trial preparation, and trials.
Nixon Peabody’s Intellectual Property practice has grown significantly in recent months, adding several attorneys across offices. In addition to Elizabeth, the firm recently welcomed partners Sasha Rao, Brandon Stroy, Ashe Puri, and Tim Maloney; senior counsel Karl Fink; counsel Brian Kennedy and Michael Gray; and a number of associates, including Taylor Pfeifer, Nicole Sims, Nicholas Choi, Patrick Doyle, Ion Moraru, and Maggie Horstman.
The firm also welcomed patent technical specialist Liz Laudadio in Chicago and patent agent Christian Donovan in San Francisco.
“Elizabeth’s arrival is integral to our ongoing practice expansion, and her extensive capabilities and experience across a wide range of IP matters will be an immediate benefit to our clients,” said Seth Levy, leader of Nixon Peabody’s Intellectual Property practice. “We continue to see increased demand for IP legal services rooted in a high level of technical depth and interdisciplinary breadth, and our sophisticated litigation team enables us to provide vital tools for clients to defend against competition and enforce their IP rights.”
“We are excited to welcome Elizabeth to the team,” said Dan Schwartz, leader of Nixon Peabody’s Intellectual Property Litigation team. “Her wealth of IP experience, including her significant experience litigating in the Texas federal courts, will be an excellent addition to the firm.”
In addition to her litigation practice, Elizabeth also dedicates time to her immigration pro bono practice, with a primary focus on assisting women fleeing violence and border separation.
Elizabeth previously served as a law clerk to Judge Robert W. Schroeder III and Judge K. Nicole Mitchell in the Eastern District of Texas.
Elizabeth earned her JD from the University of Dayton School of Law and her BS from Baylor University. In 2024, she was named to The Best Lawyers in America® “Ones to Watch” for Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property. She was also named a “Rising Star” by Texas Super Lawyers (2019–2023).
