Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP has selected partner Jeffrey Gilbreth as leader of the AmLaw 100 firm’s Labor & Employment practice.
With 36 attorneys across its national Labor & Employment practice, Jeff leads a group that delivers creative and real-world solutions to navigate the complexities of the ever-changing employment landscape inclusive of high stakes Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) matters, wage-and-hour disputes, and employment law compliance. Best Law Firms® recently ranked the firm's Labor & Employment practice as Tier 1 in its national rankings for Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law and Employment Law—Management.
Jeff’s practice focuses on providing employers of all sizes and in all industries with strategic advice and counsel with respect to their business operations and compliance with employment laws. He advises clients with respect to navigating the myriad wage-hour laws, managing employee performance and leaves of absence, drafting and negotiating employment agreements, mitigating liability risk in connection with layoffs and other employee exits, and negotiating settlements in employee disputes and government investigations.
Based in Nixon Peabody’s Boston office, Jeff has spent his entire career with the firm, joining out of law school. He was elected to the firm’s partnership in 2013.
“Having spent my entire legal career at Nixon Peabody, I’m honored to take on this role leading our talented and dynamic group of attorneys and professional staff,” said Jeff. “I have had excellent mentors at the firm who have helped me develop my practice and I aspire to do the same for my colleagues. I am also looking forward to continuing working alongside and learning from my predecessor, Tara Daub, and I am excited to build on her years of leadership.”
Jeff succeeds partner Tara Daub as practice leader. Tara served in the role for more than four years and continues her practice at Nixon Peabody representing employers in litigation, government investigations, and traditional labor law issues including labor contract bargaining and disputes. She also provides compliance counseling to employers in connection with workforce decisions and policies for both union and non-union employers.
“Jeff’s depth of experience in employment law and his commitment to exceptional client service as well as collaboration, innovation, and mentorship make him a great fit for this role,” said Anthony Barron, leader of the Nixon Peabody’s Litigation department, which includes the Labor & Employment practice. “We are grateful to Tara for her strong and strategic leadership over the past four years, demonstrating the same excellence and dedication that her clients see every day. We look forward to the continued growth and success of the practice.”
