Introduction
Dana Stanton is a partner and the co-leader of Nixon Peabody’s Environmental team as well as the leader of the cross-functional, cross-practice Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Working Group. Dana advises clients in a wide range of industries on all aspects of environmental law, including regulatory, enforcement, and transactional matters.
My focus
My practice focuses on performing environmental due diligence for clients who rely on me to identify and evaluate existing and potential environmental liabilities and structure deal provisions to eliminate and allocate risks.
I also counsel developers and lenders in contaminated property and brownfield redevelopment, including advising on federal, state, and local programs to obtain liability relief. I oversee the cleanup of contaminated property from investigation through remediation to site closure, and I am fully versed in the technical aspects of a complex site.
In addition, my education and experience in chemical engineering allow me to truly evaluate a project from all sides and anticipate and address issues and challenges before they arise.
Looking ahead
Increasingly, federal and state governments are implementing environmental regulations and remediation standards for previously unregulated chemicals, including PFAS. Now more than ever, a proactive approach is needed, including environmental due diligence for transactions involving real estate.
