Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce that Stephen D. Zubiago has been elected as the next CEO and Managing Partner of the Global 100 firm, succeeding Andrew Glincher, who served in the role for the past 10 years, leading the firm’s expansion of client relationships and overall growth.
For the past decade, Steve has led the firm’s Business & Finance Department, which includes Nixon Peabody’s Corporate, Global Finance, Health Care, and Private Clients practice groups. His law practice is focused on the health care and insurance industries, advising clients on a range of corporate and regulatory matters.
Steve embodies Nixon Peabody’s goal of delivering positive impact for its clients. “The most satisfying part of being a lawyer is helping clients solve complex problems to achieve their goals,” said Steve. “We do that as a firm by establishing trusted relationships with clients as a result of understanding their industry, bringing a deep and diverse team to a problem, and then identifying a solution and achieving it with energy and enthusiasm. This approach is at the core of everything we do.”
Since joining NP in 1999, Steve has experienced many examples of what good leadership can accomplish. “Leaders remove obstacles and position our colleagues and our clients for success,” he said. “Our firm has a deep and diverse team of practitioners and professional colleagues. One of the most important aspects of my new role is to ensure that our attorneys from all backgrounds have a platform and opportunities to succeed and to navigate challenges in order to best serve our clients.”
As CEO and Managing Partner, Steve will oversee Nixon Peabody’s leadership role as one of four law firms in Diversity Lab’s Move the Needle (MTN) initiative, a collaborative effort among law firms, in-house counsel, and community leaders to create a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. Nixon Peabody’s MTN focus involves increasing the representation of women, racial and ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ+ attorneys in the firm’s equity partnership ranks. In addition to Nixon Peabody’s MTN commitment, Steve will ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion remain firm wide strategic priorities, and continue to build a diverse and inclusive leadership team across Nixon Peabody.
Andrew will serve as Senior Chairman and Partner at NP and will focus on expanding client relationships, diversity, mentoring and developing attorneys, and board/community service and philanthropic efforts.
February 1 marks the start of Nixon Peabody’s new fiscal year, and the firm is positioned for future success. “It is an enormous credit to our people and a sign of our deep client relationships that we have continued to exhibit strength throughout the pandemic,” said Andrew. “I am thrilled for my longtime colleague Steve, and my commitment to Nixon Peabody is as strong as ever. It has been and continues to be an honor and privilege to serve our people and clients.”
“Andrew’s strong, inclusive, and collaborative leadership helped transform and propel our firm to new levels, and I’m humbled and excited to carry that legacy forward,” said Steve.
Steve received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University and then graduated from Marquette University Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
