Albany, NY. At a time of heightened deal-making, Nixon Peabody is pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Tidgewell as leader of the firm’s Corporate practice, one of the world’s premier legal practices for mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions.
Nixon Peabody’s Corporate practice comprises the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity & Investment Funds, Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation, Franchise & Distribution, and Tax teams. The team of Corporate lawyers work across multiple disciplines, sectors, and geographies, covering every aspect of a transaction—from tax, securities, and antitrust issues to corporate governance and other regulatory matters.
“It’s an honor to take on this role at a time when many businesses are looking to invest after enduring the uncertainty caused by the global pandemic,” said Todd. “There’s a fair amount of pent-up energy coupled with renewed enthusiasm, and our attorneys are ready to direct this energy into strategic deal-making for our clients.”
Todd’s corporate transactions practice focuses on private equity, venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions. He also advises private equity funds, their limited partners, and their portfolio companies in a broad spectrum of transactions, including the formation and financing of business enterprises, capital financing, and fund formation. Todd also serves as corporate counsel to several emerging technology companies and other privately held businesses.
Todd takes the reins from Christopher Keefe, who last month was elevated to lead Nixon Peabody’s Business & Finance Department, which includes the firm’s Corporate practice.
“I’ve had the pleasure of being Todd’s colleague and partner for many years, and he has consistently demonstrated both his acumen in guiding our clients as well as his commitment to our firm,” said Chris. “I look forward to working with Todd to continue to provide excellent service to our clients and to grow our Corporate practice.”
Todd attended the University of Virginia School of Law and earned a B.A. from Yale University. He was recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in 2021 for Corporate/M&A and has also been recognized by Chambers in previous years.
