Los Angeles, CA. Nixon Peabody LLP partner and prominent public finance attorney Jade Turner-Bond has been honored as part of Bloomberg Law’s 2022 “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40.
According to the publication, the 40 honorees “represent the best of the future of the legal profession” and “invest their time into making the legal profession a better reflection of our world.”
As a Los Angeles-based partner in the firm’s Project Finance & Public Finance practice, municipal leaders throughout California recognize Jade for her high-impact work in the public finance space. She represents diverse clients in the financing and refinancing of infrastructure and capital improvement projects for state and local municipal entities, as well as cultural institutions and foundations that include the State of California, the State of New Jersey, the City of Los Angeles, The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the City of San Diego, the County of San Diego, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, The J. Paul Getty Trust, and The Broad Foundations.
Jade’s clients at state, county, city, school district, and economic development agencies were some of the hardest-hit and most vulnerable entities due to the economic crisis and uncertainties precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, Jade and her Nixon Peabody Public Finance team served as underwriter’s counsel to the California Endowment for its $300 million social bonds offering in January 2021, which provided vital grant funding for key nonprofit organizations, projects, and programs advancing social justice initiatives. Jade also served as disclosure counsel to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for its $545 million offering of Proposition C sales tax revenue bonds, which was recognized by The Bond Buyer as its “ESG/Green Financing Deal of the Year.”
Virginia Wong, leader of Nixon Peabody’s Project Finance & Public Finance practice, shared: “The combination of demonstrated professional excellence and a continuous record of community involvement is deserving of this Bloomberg recognition. She is also a powerful advocate for diversity and women, developing and leading inclusive teams that work on innovative projects that help to transform our society for the good and prepare our society for a better future.”
Outside of her public finance practice, Jade is a leader in helping to foster greater diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the legal profession and broader business community. In addition to mentoring junior attorneys, she serves as the partner chair of Nixon Peabody’s Black Resource Group and sits on the board of directors of GRID 110, an accelerator that provides Los Angeles-based founders (focusing on minorities and women) with a community of entrepreneurs, mentors, and critical resources.
Jade, who previously worked for the California State Treasurer’s Office, has also been recognized as one of The Bond Buyer’s 2021 Rising Stars, named to the Best Lawyers in America® 2022 “Ones to Watch” list, and was selected for the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2021 “Women of Influence” list.
