Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce that attorneys Shaziah Singh and Janelle Walker were named to the Lawyers of Color “Hot List” for 2022.
Lawyers of Color is a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in underrepresented communities. Since 2013, its annual “Hot List” has recognized junior- and mid-level attorneys exemplifying integrity, high achievement, leadership, and a passion for diversity.
Based in Nixon Peabody’s New York City office, Shaziah is an associate in the firm’s Corporate practice. She represents family offices, private equity firms and their portfolio companies, established public companies, and other clients in US and cross-border transactions. Shaziah has experience in equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, debt transactions, securities compliance, and other strategic transactions in a variety of industries, including behavioral health, manufacturing, professional services, and food, beverage, and agribusiness. Shaziah also advises clients on general corporate matters, commercial contracts, and corporate governance matters.
Janelle is an associate in Nixon Peabody’s Project Finance & Public Finance practice. Based in San Francisco, she serves as bond and co-bond counsel, disclosure counsel, special counsel, and underwriters’ counsel on a variety of tax-exempt and taxable municipal finance transactions, including those related to general municipal infrastructure, affordable housing and redevelopment, transportation, power generation and transmission, and water and wastewater services. Janelle is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, Women in Public Finance, Sports Lawyers Association, and the Charles Houston Bar Association.
