Chicago, IL. Nixon Peabody LLP partner Julie Seymour has been appointed as the newest member of the firm’s Management Committee, which oversees business affairs, day-to-day operations, and high-impact initiatives.

Based in Nixon Peabody’s Chicago office, Julie is a partner in the Project Finance & Public Finance practice, focusing on healthcare and education finance. She regularly serves as bank, borrower’s, and underwriter’s counsel on taxable and tax-exempt financing transactions for health systems, colleges and universities, charter schools, cultural institutions, and other nonprofit entities. Julie has worked on billions of dollars worth of financings across the country throughout her career.
Julie has been widely recognized as a leader in law for over a decade and was most recently named as one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2022 “Notable Women in Law.” She was also selected, through a peer review survey, for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Health Care Law (listed since 2013), and was designated as the 2023 and 2019 Public Finance Law “Lawyer of the Year” for Chicago, IL. Additionally, Julie has been recognized for exceptional standing in the legal community in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2022 for Healthcare (Illinois) for several years.
Julie is an active member of the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys, National Association of Bond Lawyers, and Women in Public Finance. She previously served as a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers’ Steering Committee and chair of the “Current Issues in Healthcare Finance (Non-Tax Matters)” for its annual Bond Attorneys’ Workshop. Julie earned her JD from the University of Illinois College of Law, and also holds an MBA from the University of Illinois College of Commerce and Business Administration.
