Los Angeles, CA. Nixon Peabody LLP has strengthened its patent and trade secrets litigation capabilities on the West Coast with the addition of Michael W. Gray, who joins the Intellectual Property practice as counsel in the law firm’s Los Angeles office.
Michael focuses his practice on helping high-tech clients navigate litigation, protect their intellectual property and trade secrets, and advance their business objectives. He represents clients in complex patent litigation across diverse technologies including smartphones, software products, telecommunications, and secure computing.
“Michael’s extensive experience across various types of intellectual property litigation, particularly in patent and trade secrets matters, will be an immediate benefit to our clients,” said partner Seth Levy, leader of Nixon Peabody’s Intellectual Property practice. “As we support our clients through the full IP lifecycle, his engineering background offers a unique perspective on clients’ technical issues and business needs. We are thrilled to welcome Michael to our group.”
Prior to attending law school, Michael built a career in mechanical engineering as a drilling engineer for oil and gas wells. He draws on this experience to provide clients with insight into the regulatory, technical, and intellectual property issues across a range of industries. Michael advises clients through all stages of litigation, from complaint to post-trial proceedings, and is experienced in post-grant reviews (PGR) before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and related appeals, and in JAMS arbitrations in California.
Driven by evolving client needs, Nixon Peabody has continued to grow its Intellectual Property practice in targeted markets. In conjunction with Michael’s arrival, the Intellectual Property practice in Los Angeles also welcomes associate Taylor E. Pfeifer, whose experience includes representing clients in high stakes intellectual property matters.
“Michael and Taylor are great additions to our Los Angeles office. Their arrivals build on the strength of our IP capabilities on the West Coast and complement our full-service offerings,” said Sonia Nayak, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Los Angeles office. “We are excited to welcome both attorneys to the firm.”
