Introduction
Carolyn Glynn is a senior associate in Nixon Peabody’s Corporate practice group. She advises companies and individuals on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial agreements, joint ventures, and NVCA (National Venture Capital Association) transactions. As a member of the firm’s Entertainment & Media and Sports & Stadiums teams, Carolyn has particular experience in the entertainment, technology, talent-backed consumer products, content creator, and sports teams and venues industries.
My focus
My unique experience as a former professional athlete, my passion for sports and the empowerment of women’s leagues, teams, and athletes, and my skill set as a corporate attorney to advise sports, entertainment, and influence-focused businesses differentiate my practice. I am well-versed in a wide variety of M&A transactions and commercial contract negotiations. I negotiate deals across the spectrum, including brand deals, vendor agreements, licensing and merchandising agreements, consulting and service agreements, and content distribution deals, working in close collaboration with managers, agents, and other key members of the talent team. I strive to build and protect my clients’ brands, execute strategic partnerships, and ensure compliance with rapidly shifting laws and regulations. I am relentless in the pursuit of delivering excellent client service and, as a result, frequently serve as a point person for my client’s deals.
Looking ahead
Women’s sports will continue to emerge, gain greater broadcasting market share, and consumer attention, Game-day attendance is increasing commercial revenues, sponsorship, and media rights. Investors are looking beyond traditional men’s sports to identify opportunities in women’s sports with significant growth prospects. Female athletes will continue to lean into leveraging their platform as professional athletes during their playing careers through sport and brand promotion on social media. Female athletes who understand and regularly interact with these platforms will be positioned for growth, and a new era of college athletics will bring even more influencer stakeholders into this space.
