Rochester, NY. At a time when employment-related litigation remains prevalent, Nixon Peabody LLP has expanded its Labor & Employment practice with the addition of Michael J. Lingle, who brings more than 20 years of experience to the firm.
Michael joins the firm’s Rochester, New York, office as counsel. He represents clients in all types and through all phases of employment litigation, including wage and hour class and collective actions, individual discrimination matters, retirement plan issues, employment contracts, and whistleblower actions.
“Our practice sits at the leading edge of the rapidly evolving employment landscape, both across New York state and nationally,” said Tara Daub, leader of Nixon Peabody’s Labor & Employment practice. “Michael’s experience and ability to adapt to clients’ changing needs will make him an important voice within our practice as we continue help clients navigate their biggest challenges.”
As part of his practice, Michael also advises clients through matters involving federal labor laws, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Michael started his legal career as a Nixon Peabody summer associate, and we’re thrilled to see him come full circle.”
Michael was a Nixon Peabody summer associate in 1998 and 1999. He earned his JD from Harvard Law School and his BS from Cornell University. Michael is a member of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Committee on Professional Ethics. He previously served as board secretary for the United Nations Association of Rochester, and was a member of the board for the Workers Justice Center of New York.
