New York, NY. Law firm Nixon Peabody LLP has expanded its Environmental team with the addition of partner Ted Wolff, who focuses on matters involving compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and will be based in Nixon Peabody’s New York City office.
With a background as an environmental consultant, Ted is uniquely positioned to advise clients in navigating environmental issues in disputes and transactional matters. He supports clients across a wide variety of industries, including retail, transportation, real estate, industrial goods, manufacturing, food service, and healthcare, as well as government agencies. Licensed in New York and Illinois, Ted’s environmental litigation experience includes representing clients in federal and state courts and in front of government agencies in a range of administrative, enforcement, and civil actions. He advises clients with compliance nationwide, and he has extensive experience with brownfield clean-up and redevelopment.
In his practice, Ted counsels clients on environmental concerns, including regulatory compliance, supply chain management, greening, and sustainability. He helps guide companies through the development and execution of environmental management systems and sustainability programs, helping to create trainings, emergency response, and day-to-day compliance plans. He has experience working on environmental due diligence, risk evaluation, and the allocation and shifting of environmental liabilities.
“Ted is a thoughtful practitioner who strengthens our national Environmental team and will make an immediate impact at the firm,” said Nixon Peabody partner Christopher Froeb, leader of the firm’s Affordable Housing & Real Estate practice, which includes the Environmental team. “The fact that he manages litigation and regulatory compliance issues while also advising on transactions is an asset for our practice.”
Within the rapidly evolving area of environmental law, as enforcement shifts from federal to states under the new administration in Washington, Ted will advise clients on supply chain and nationwide environmental management systems, working closely with Environmental Team leaders Alison Torbitt and Dana Stanton. Clients will look for guidance on how to stay compliant as states differ in their responses, and Ted has crucial environmental compliance experience, having implemented programs across hundreds of properties in various states.
“Ted is a great addition to our office who will work closely with colleagues on a variety of transactional matters,” said Richard Langan, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s New York City office. “Given our full-service law office, many of Ted’s client matters will benefit from collaboration with colleagues across corporate, employment, litigation, and other practice areas.”
Ted earned his law degree from New York University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Colby College.
