Chicago, IL. Nixon Peabody LLP has expanded its Global Finance practice with the addition of experienced corporate finance attorney Barrett Wilson-Murphy, who joins as counsel in the firm’s Chicago office.
Barrett has over a decade of experience working with domestic and foreign clients on middle-market financings and restructurings. He advises banks and other financial institutions, debt funds, non-bank lenders, and other providers of capital in a wide variety of transactions, including senior, second lien, and mezzanine financings, on an asset-based or cash-flow basis. In addition, Barrett has a particular focus on fund finance in the private equity and venture capital industries.
“Barrett has a deep understanding of shifting fund finance conditions in the middle market and a valuable ability to navigate complex, time-sensitive transactions,” said Robert Drobnak, co-leader of Nixon Peabody’s Global Finance practice. “In addition, his experience on both the lender and borrower sides of global finance and understanding of the private equity and venture capital communities dovetails nicely with our firm’s cross-practice work. We’re excited to welcome him to our practice.”
As part of his general corporate practice, Barrett also advises clients on a variety of matters, including corporate governance and compliance matters.
“Barrett’s commitment to providing skillful, innovative client service and to making a positive impact in his community makes him a strong fit for our firm’s culture,” said David R. Brown, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Chicago office. “As we continue to grow in Chicago, I’m thrilled to welcome Barrett to our team and look forward to introducing him to our clients.”
Barrett earned his JD from Boston College Law School and received his BA from Trinity College.
